This week in the saga

The drug lord El Chapo escapes a Mexican prison through a tunnel under the earth, and the chronicle finds DONARUDO alone in his tower, vindicated and grim: I told you so. Through the night his thoughts burn on the glowing phone, and by morning he stands before the lens-faced chorus demanding the apology that will never come. He kneels once, for Kate Steinle gunned down in San Francisco, and rises swearing the wall into being.
