This week in the saga

The quietest week of the winter is the one where he governs without office. Friday the Georgia prosecutor admits the affair with the man she hired to prosecute him, and he pronounces her case discredited. Saturday the immunity warning goes out in capitals; Sunday, while the country sets up for the game, he promises the drills. And Monday the order comes down — only a fool votes for the Senate's border bill — and within forty-eight hours the deal his party spent four months writing is dead. He holds no office. He holds the party.
