This week in the saga

Tuesday the gavel falls on the defendant himself: contempt of court, nine posts, nine thousand dollars, and a warning that the next remedy is jail. Friday an aide from the first campaign — one of the few he never turned on — takes the stand and weeps, and the gag order means he cannot say a word about her. Saturday he floods the hallway camera instead: no case, every scholar says so. Sunday he escapes to the Miami Grand Prix for one afternoon of engines, and on Monday the court finds a tenth violation, fines him again, and says the word aloud: incarceration.
