This week in the saga

The chronicle opens its fifth chapter: the crown is won, but uneasily worn. West Virginia and Nebraska fall without battle, and the conqueror rides to the capital to sit with the elders of the party he broke — and calls the day great. From the summit of his tower he watches the other kingdom tear itself apart, sparing the wild sage his blade and even urging him to ride on alone, while new polls arrive like tribute at his gates.
