The businessmen of the world are on the plane. Tuesday a network is corrected about who was invited, and the list is read out like a manifest. Thursday a foreign president calls the country declining and is agreed with, carefully, about the four years before this one. Friday night a mission in Africa takes the second man of a terror organization off the battlefield. Sunday the clock is ticking. Monday the terms of surrender are written out in full, hands held high, white flag waving — and that same evening three Gulf rulers ask him to hold the attack that was scheduled for tomorrow.
