This week in the saga

August opens with the Khan wound still raw: the polls sag and his own party murmurs behind closed doors. He answers the only way he knows — striking upward at the departing king, entering $400 million in cash to Iran into the ledger of the old order's crimes, and seizing the general's own words when she confesses she "short circuited." Then he turns to face the faceless chorus and names them the second enemy.
