This week in the saga
The counterattack week. The anthem war turns fiscal — the league's tax breaks on the table; after midnight the newsrooms themselves are threatened with their licenses. Congress having failed him on healthcare, he draws the pen like a sword and signs his own order. Far to the west, wine country burns all week, whole neighborhoods to ash in a night. And asked whether his defeated rival might run again, he grins at the glowing screen: I hope so.
