物語
This week in the saga
The summit glow gives way to a firestorm at the border, and he makes it the frontier of the whole war: without borders, he says, there is no country. As the outcry peaks he signs an order halting the separations, telling the country not to worry — he and his party will fix it. A jacket becomes a battlefield; he insists the words scrawled on the first lady's coat were aimed only at the fake news. Then he pivots to the argument he prefers: the system is unfair to those who waited in line, and entry should be earned on merit. One week past the peak, the ground tilts downward, and the summer of the hunt is only beginning.
