This week in the saga
The first courtroom of the hunt opens in Virginia, and his old campaign chairman is led into the dock. He answers that collusion is not even a crime, and there was none anyway; then reaches for history, asking who was treated worse — a legendary mob boss and killer, or his convicted-of-nothing operative. He turns openly on his own attorney general, ordering him to stop the rigged hunt at once, and pauses the war only for a lighter swipe at a television host and a basketball star. Above it all he keeps naming his oldest enemy: the fake news hates being called the enemy of the people, he says, only because they know it is true.
