In Boulder the third duel dissolves into farce for every combatant but one: by midnight DONARUDO holds up the poll tallies and declares himself the victor of a battle he had branded unfair before it began. He renews his purity vow — the Super PACs are a scam, and he alone self-funds — then reads the final general's feints like a veteran as her own lines break before protesters. Snow gathers at the tower windows: the front-runner's winter is coming.
