The machine breaks in public this week. The network's two chief engineers — the men hired to build the thing — resign, and a launch that technically already happened becomes a launch that has not happened yet. On the market the venture that carries his name has lost half its height since winter, and inside the palace the question circulates quietly: who broke it. And then, on the last day of the week, a filing lands a thousand miles away that has nothing and everything to do with him — the richest man in the world has bought almost a tenth of the bird, the platform that banned him, and has begun to circle it.
