The hunt does not slow the machine: Tuesday night his endorsements run the board again, twenty-six for twenty-six. Thursday he compresses the whole defense into three shouted words — Presidential Records Act. Friday at noon the affidavit behind the raid unseals, page after page of black bars; nothing on nuclear, he answers, we gave them much — and by evening he has found the hole in their redactions: they missed a page. Then Saturday, quietly, a federal judge in Florida reaches for the case, and for the first time since the doors opened, a court leans his way.
