This week in the saga
Monday night the hoarded tapes of the Capitol riot air on television, and Tuesday morning he demands the cells open. Thursday the word comes from Manhattan — the grand jury would hear him, and an invitation like that means a target. His denial arrives with a twist of the knife in it. Friday evening he mourns an old lion of the law, spinning in his grave. Sunday a bank out west collapses and he reads the omen at full volume: a new Hoover, a depression on the way. And Monday he counts the hunts himself — four investigations, four directions. Five days later he will name the day of his own arrest.
