This week in the saga

Wednesday night, from the far side of the world, he writes that the country has more nuclear weapons than any other and that he has instructed the Department of War to begin testing them again on an equal basis, beginning immediately. Four minutes later, in six words: the G2 will be convening shortly. It does, and it goes well — soybeans, rare earths, fentanyl, a farm-country shopping list read out like a peace. Then home, and a different war: because the other side has gone stone cold crazy, the choice is clear, initiate the nuclear option and get rid of the filibuster. Friday a country is warned it may be entered guns-a-blazing. And Monday, the night before the country votes, the same sentence over and over — a vote for them is a death wish.
