This week in the saga
The chapter closes at home. Tuesday the dinner that ended in gunfire is put back on the calendar, as a sign of strength. Thursday the House votes to limit his war powers in the middle of his final negotiations, and the elections of the country are called the most dishonest anywhere in the world. Saturday a judge has to get out of the way, and fast. Monday he tells two countries to stop shooting, in five words — and then turns to the Senate and asks that the rule-keeper be fired. Abroad, the thing is nearly won. At home, every piece of the machinery is still refusing.
