The Wiretap
FEBRUARY 28. FOR ONE NIGHT THE NEW KING SPEAKS SOFTLY TO THE ASSEMBLED HOUSES, AND EVEN HIS ENEMIES APPLAUD.
THANK YOU!
Manga panel 2 of 5, Week 90 “The Wires”: The little silver-haired councilor of the law stands alone before the press thicket as the recusal storm breaks over him.
Jeff Sessions is an honest man. He did not say anything wrong. He could have stated his response more accurately, but it was clearly not....
Manga panel 3 of 5, Week 90 “The Wires”: At dawn Donarudo grips the glowing phone with both thumbs and fires the accusation that will name the chapter: his wires were tapped.
Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my ""wires tapped"" in Trump Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!
Manga panel 4 of 5, Week 90 “The Wires”: In his telling the tower itself is wrapped in listening wires, coiled like serpents around the fortress that won the war.
How low has President Obama gone to tapp my phones during the very sacred election process. This is Nixon/Watergate. Bad (or sick) guy!
Manga panel 5 of 5, Week 90 “The Wires”: Alone at the long table Donarudo hurls the question after the departing king, who walks out of the story without turning around.
Is it legal for a sitting President to be ""wire tapping"" a race for president prior to an election? Turned down by court earlier. A NEW LOW!
THE ACCUSATION COMES WITH NO EVIDENCE. IT DOES NOT NEED ANY. THE HUNT FOR THE HUNTERS HAS BEGUN.

This week in the saga

Chapter 10 opens on the strangest whiplash of the young reign: on Tuesday the king addresses Congress with borrowed calm and wins his first genuine applause; by Saturday dawn he is alone in a dressing robe accusing his predecessor, by phone, of tapping the tower's wires. The chapter takes its name from that dawn — an accusation without evidence that will bend the machinery of two intelligence committees, and the reign itself, for months.
