This week in the saga

The first true defeat of the reign, and it comes from inside the walls. The siege of the dome collapses not under enemy fire but because the hooded brotherhood of his own flank bars the door; the bill is pulled twenty-six minutes before the vote it could not win. The dealmaker's answer is the week's dark punchline — let the citadel explode on its own, and blame the wolves of his own pack for stealing victory's jaws.
