The hunt reaches the family. The king's son publishes his own letters before the chorus can — a meeting offered, dirt promised, three words in reply. The father calls him open, transparent and innocent; Paris offers a parade and jets painting the sky; midnight offers the older ledger — her thirty-three thousand deleted letters against his son's one meeting. Walking to the waiting machine he shrugs it off over his shoulder: that's politics. Across the river, the hunter adds the letters to his file.
