This week in the saga

The fever and the flood. In a Phoenix arena he re-litigates Charlottesville to a roaring crowd, and two nights later — deep in the night — the pen grants an old desert sheriff the reign's first pardon. The wall gets its loudest vow yet. Then the sky turns: a storm named Harvey swells beyond every projection, crawls ashore, and parks over Houston. By Sunday night the rainfall has no precedent in the records, the streets are rivers, and the boats are working the rooflines.
