The Arrest
JANUARY ENDS IN MANHATTAN. IN A GRANITE BUILDING DOWNTOWN, A GRAND JURY BEGINS TO HEAR THE OLDEST STORY IN THE HUNT — THE STORMY MATTER.
Manga panel 2 of 5, Week 399 “Stormy”: The answer comes by breakfast: the Stormy nonsense is very old, long past the deadline, and he relied on the judgment and advice of counsel.
THE ANSWER COMES BY BREAKFAST.
With respect to the “Stormy” nonsense, it is VERY OLD & happened a long time ago, long past the very publicly known & accepted deadline of the Statute of Limitations.
Manga panel 3 of 5, Week 399 “Stormy”: Downtown, the prosecutor reads on. From the palace comes advice across the distance: solve the murders instead, and leave the old case alone.
DOWNTOWN, THE PROSECUTOR READS.
If the District Attorney of Manhattan would spend half as much time trying to solve the Murder and Violent Crime epidemic that is taking place in our once great City, as he does in perpetuating the greatest Witch Hunt of all time,
Manga panel 4 of 5, Week 399 “Stormy”: Friday the prosecutor who quit the case publishes his grievances in a book — and hands the defense a gift. No slam dunk, he crows: no crime at all.
FRIDAY THE PROSECUTOR WHO QUIT THE CASE PUBLISHES HIS GRIEVANCE — AND HANDS THE DEFENSE A GIFT.
THE CASE HAD MAJOR ISSUES AND WAS CERTAINLY NOT A “SLAM DUNK!” MARK POMERANTZ. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM THEY HAD WITH THE “CASE” IS THAT I DID NOTHING WRONG!
Manga panel 5 of 5, Week 399 “Stormy”: Sunday a fallen spy balloon fills the nation's week of sky-gazing, and he squints up after it: a billion-dollar blimp, possibly manned — why did no one simply call and negotiate?
SUNDAY THE NATION STARES UP AT A FALLEN SPY BALLOON. HE STARES WITH IT.
Who sends a Billion Dollar blimp, with the most sophisticated equipment in the World, and large enough to hold ten cars or 3 large buses, into a complex pattern over the United States, without it quite possibly being manned, such as the “manned spacecraft?”
AND IN MANHATTAN, TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS, THE JURORS KEEP ARRIVING.

This week in the saga

January ends with a grand jury convening in a granite building downtown, and the oldest story in the hunt — the Stormy matter — on its table. His answer comes by breakfast: it is very old, long past the deadline, he relied on the advice of counsel. He advises the prosecutor to go solve murders instead. Friday the prosecutor who quit the case publishes his grievances in a book, and the defense declares it a gift — no slam dunk, no crime at all. And Sunday the whole nation stares up at a fallen spy balloon while he wonders aloud why nobody simply negotiated for it. In Manhattan, Tuesdays and Thursdays, the jurors keep arriving.
