物語
This week in the saga
Tuesday comes to Centre Street, and the barricades and cameras wait all day for an arrest that never arrives — the record never speaks of the promise again. Wednesday the missed deadline is repackaged as a rout: the rogue prosecutor is having a hard time with the grand jury. Then at eight past one on Friday morning the register changes, and deep in a midnight post sits the phrase the week will remember: potential death and destruction. Saturday night is Waco — the first rally of the new war, and the hunt given its meaning: they're not coming after me, they're coming after you. He flies home past midnight, naming prosecutors the new mail-in ballots. The hammer is three days from falling.
