The week the volume gets its name. Wednesday morning he reports from the one front left: the Strait is his, the blockade is being called a WALL OF STEEL by everyone, and the enemy has no navy, no air force and no money. By six that evening the same instrument is pointed at Florida — twenty-one endorsements in six minutes, every one a total winner. Friday the World War II Memorial is spray-painted, and he asks where these animals come from; Friday night, at ten, the preservation society that sued over the ballroom is named as treasonists who revealed military secrets. Saturday the Senate is ordered to stop changing the clocks. Monday, with November eleven weeks out, he relays a question from India's election commissioner — how can you hold an election without a photo ID — and asks for the act that would answer it, which the Senate has not passed. The steel holds the sea. It has not moved a single bill.
