This week in the saga

The week the map is redrawn. Tuesday morning, with the northern neighbour's tariffs a day old, the country gives serious consideration to renaming the lake between them, and by Thursday afternoon the survey office has done it. Tuesday afternoon the flag comes down for a week for a country singer. Thursday night the beaten enemy is begging to make a deal, whatever the television says. Friday night the biggest oil deal in world history is signed with the neighbour to the south. Sunday night an island in the Gulf is blown to smithereens, and Monday morning the enemy is pronounced a failed nation: it is dead. Monday evening the Supreme Court rules on the ballroom one last time, without any further contingency, doubt or threat, and the temporary tenant is told his building will be finished in the summer of 2028.
