This week in the saga
Chapter 11 closes on held breath. A general commands the palace now and for one strange week the halls actually go quiet: a sanctions bill signed like a man breaking his own sword, a mountain rally, fifteen raised hands around the world council's horseshoe. On the vast summer lawn at dusk, phone in hand, he insists it is not a vacation. Five days from now, in a college town to the south, the torches come out — and the quiet ends. The special counsel is never seen this week. His absence is the point.
