This week in the saga
Chapter 19 opens with the siege lost but the war unbroken. The caravans still march, and he swears that without the Wall there is no security at all; he salutes the border guards for the largest drug seizure in the nation's history and surveys his critics with contempt, savoring the one fact he says silences them — he sits in the great house, and they do not. He vows again to end the endless foreign wars, and names the enemy plainly as the probes multiply. And across the city, unseen, the prosecutor sets down his pen at last.
