This week in the saga
On the twenty-sixth of June he walks out onto a stage at a county fairground in Ohio — the first crowd he has called since the sixth of January, one hundred and seventy-one days. The field is full to the fences. Four papers leave his office that week: a note on a purge of Georgia voter rolls, an advisory for a rally in Florida the following Saturday, an announcement that a club of chief executives has given him a lifetime achievement award, and a count of how much of its audience a cable programme has lost since he left. Not one of them mentions Ohio.
