This week in the saga
Six endorsements go out in the last week of the chapter, a report is sent to a Georgia official with one line of his on top, and a general is accused in print of making calls to China. Then, on the seventeenth of September, a congressman from Ohio who voted to impeach him announces he will not run again, and the office publishes five words about it: 1 down, 9 to go! That is what the machine turned out to be for. He cannot sign a law, move a soldier or govern a county. He can end a career with one sheet of paper, and by the end of September the line waiting along the carpet is longer than it was in July.
